I started doing evening classes in mosaics in Greenwich in 2012. My first mosaic was done in the Roman style: an owl inspired by a famous mosaic from Tunisia. After learning the Roman style I began to discover the world of contemporary mosaics and got hooked. I love that you can use all types of different materials in a contemporary mosaic ranging from glass, ceramics, hand-made materials, marble, slate, pebbles, and sea glass to literally anything you can think of using.
During my journey in mosaics I have taken part in numerous exhibitions including a solo exhibition at the SE9 Shipping Container gallery in Eltham, and the Mosaics Odysseys Exhibition in London, Athens and Mykonos.
In recent years I have got interested in the connections between music and movement and mosaics…. mosaics after all are andamento, which can be translated as “the flow or movement of tesserae”. I am also interested in mosaic improvisation and performance.
